In Rome, a high-end escort named Diana becomes the target of a killer who has been murdering young women. While fleeing him she is involved in a car crash that costs her her sight and leaves a ten-year-old boy, Chin, without his family. Blind and struggling to adjust to her new life, Diana takes the orphaned boy under her care, and the two try to build some kind of everyday existence together. The danger has not passed, though: the man who chased her is still out there, and the police investigation into the killings continues around them.
Dark Glasses was directed by Dario Argento, who wrote the screenplay with Franco Ferrini. It is the seventeenth of the seventeen films he has directed, arriving a decade after Dracula 3D. Ilenia Pastorelli plays Diana, with Andrea Zhang as Chin, Asia Argento as Rita and Andrea Gherpelli as Matteo. The film was produced by Conchita Airoldi, Vincent Maraval and Brahim Chioua for Wild Bunch, Canal+, Ciné+ and RAI Cinema, and runs 86 minutes.
Released in February 2022, the Italian-French production drew a 5.3 out of 10 from 54 critics' reviews, while audiences on TMDB rate it 4.7 out of 10 from 212 votes, so the two groups land in similar territory.
