Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train

Tanjiro Kamado, his sister Nezuko, Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira have finished their recovery training and set out on a new assignment. Their mission takes them aboard a moving train, where dozens of passengers have vanished in a short span of time. The demon slayers are joined by Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, one of the strongest swordsmen in their ranks. What the group does not realize is that a demon waits among the travelers, and the train itself has become a trap.

The film is directed by Haruo Sotozaki, the second of the fifteen films he has directed in chronological order, following Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Sibling's Bond (2019) and preceding Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hashira Meeting Arc (2021). It is produced by Masanori Miyake, Akifumi Fujio and Yuma Takahashi, with animation by ufotable. The voice cast includes Natsuki Hanae, Akari Kito, Hiro Shimono, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Satoshi Hino and Takahiro Sakurai.

Released in Japan in October 2020, the film had a budget of about 16 million USD and went on to earn roughly 512 million USD worldwide, a return far beyond its production cost. Audience response has been strong and closely aligned: it holds 8.2/10 on IMDb from around 99,000 votes and 8.2/10 on TMDB from about 4,700 votes. A film critics' rating of 7.8/10 from 49 reviews places professional assessments somewhat below the audience scores.
