Rebel Ridge

Terry Richmond, a former Marine, arrives in a small American town with a bag of cash intended to cover his cousin's bail. Before he can use it, the local police seize the money, and his attempts to get it back run up against a department that operates less like a public service than a private racket. What begins as a dispute over confiscated funds becomes a confrontation with the town's entrenched corruption, with Terry's training and composure set against a police force determined to keep him contained and quiet.

Rebel Ridge was released in August 2024. It is the fourth feature directed by Jeremy Saulnier, following Blue Ruin, Green Room and Hold the Dark, and he also wrote the screenplay and produced alongside Vincent Savino and Anish Savjani. Aaron Pierre leads as Terry Richmond, with Don Johnson as Chief Sandy Burnne, AnnaSophia Robb as Summer McBride, Emory Cohen as Officer Steve Lann, David Denman as Officer Evan Marston and Oscar Gale as Skinny Guard. It runs 131 minutes and was produced in the United States by filmscience and Bonneville Pictures.

Among critics the film drew a notably warmer response than it did from general audiences: on Rotten Tomatoes it holds a critics' rating of 7.9 out of 10 from 124 reviews, while on IMDb users rate it 6.8 out of 10 from around 101,000 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 7 out of 10 from roughly 1,700 ratings.
