Set in a future a million years after a nuclear war, Sins of the Fleshapoids imagines a human society waited on by artificial servants known as fleshapoids. When one of these robots, Xar, breaks free of its programming, it kills the woman it served and goes looking for its counterpart, who attends the scheming Prince Gianbeno. The film is a short science-fiction comedy written, produced and directed by Mike Kuchar, with Bob Cowan as Xar and also providing narration, George Kuchar as Prince Gianbeno, Donna Kerness as Princess Vivianna, Maren Thomas as Melenka, Gina Zuckerman as Xar's owner and Julius Middleman as Ernie.
Running 43 minutes, it was released in January 1965 and sits first in the chronological list of the director's work, ahead of Kuchar-esque. Viewer scores place it in the middle range: on IMDb it holds 5.9 out of 10 from just over four hundred votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.1 out of 10 from a much smaller group of seventeen. The difference in the size of those two audiences is far more striking than the narrow gap between the numbers, since the IMDb figure rests on a broad sample of viewers and the TMDB one on only a handful, leaving little room for a settled consensus on either platform.
