Short description

A young Venezuelan idealist flees his native land to escape a revolution. Hoping to find peace, he goes to the mountains and the forests of the Amazon. There he encounters Rima, the Bird Girl, an orphan living a life of nature, who is feared by a local jungle tribe.

What's left behind the scenes

  • In the film, a fawn follows Roma closely and incessantly. Audrey Hepburn, who played the role, spent several weeks taming the animal.
  • Before starting work on the film, director Mel Ferrer (1917-2008) traveled to South America, where he shot some footage to be included in the movie later.
