Guilty is an Indian drama and thriller set at the fictional St. Martin's University, where Nanki Dutta is a senior and a songwriter whose music is performed by the campus band. Vijay Pratap Singh, the college heartthrob and boyfriend of Nanki, is accused of sexual assault by Tanu, a less popular junior student from a small town. Because the students at a Valentine's Day party had been drinking and taking drugs, their accounts of what happened that night are unreliable, and Nanki begins listening to the various versions of the story in order to find out the truth.
The film is directed by Ruchi Narain, who previously directed Hanuman Da Damdaar (2017), and was produced by Karan Johar for Dharmatic Entertainment. It stars Kiara Advani as Nanki Dutta, Gurfateh Pirzada as Vijay Pratap Singh, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor as Tanu, Ashrut Jain as an intern named Ashrut, and Sahil Mehta as Arnab Mitra. Running 119 minutes, it was released on 6 March 2020.
The ratings are mixed. On IMDb it holds 5.4 out of 10 from around 5,000 votes, based on a considerably larger number of viewers, while on TMDB it has 6.6 out of 10 from a much smaller pool of about 60 votes. The gap suggests the audience reaction was divided rather than unanimous, with the more widely sampled IMDb score reflecting a lukewarm response.
