John and the Hole

John and the Hole is a drama-thriller about a thirteen-year-old boy living with his well-off family in a large house in the countryside. While out exploring the nearby woods, he comes across an unfinished bunker, a deep pit in the ground. Shortly afterwards, he drugs his parents and his older sister and drags them, unconscious, into the hole, holding them there. As they wait for him to release them, John returns to the house and lives as he pleases. The film was directed by Pascual Sisto from a screenplay by Nicolás Giacobone, with Alex Orlovsky, Elika Portnoy and Giacobone producing. Charlie Shotwell plays John, Taissa Farmiga plays his sister Laurie, Jennifer Ehle and Michael C. Hall play his parents Anna and Brad, and Lucien Spelman and Ivy O'Brien also appear.

The film is a horror film and received mixed reviews. On IMDb, the average rating is 5.1/10 from around 6,700 votes; on TMDB, it is 5.4/10 from 187 votes. The film critics' rating is 6.1/10 from 129 reviews, which is higher than the audience ratings on IMDb and TMDB. This was the director's first feature film. Released in 2021, the film runs 103 minutes and was produced in the United States by Mutressa Movies and 3311 Productions.
