Vengeance

Ben Manalowitz is a New York City journalist and podcast host who travels to West Texas after learning that a woman he had been seeing has died. Her family, the Shaws, believe she was murdered, and Ben sets out to look into the circumstances of her death while turning the trip into material for his podcast. Culture clashes between the visiting New Yorker and the Texas family he barely knows shape much of the story, which mixes comedy with mystery and thriller elements.

Vengeance was released in 2022 and marked the directing debut of B.J. Novak, who also wrote the screenplay. Novak plays Ben, heading a cast that includes Boyd Holbrook, J. Smith-Cameron, Issa Rae, Ashton Kutcher and Lio Tipton, with 35 credited cast members and 116 credited crew. The film was produced by Jason Blum, Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath through Blumhouse Productions, Focus Features and Divide / Conquer.

The film's worldwide box office reached about 4 million dollars against its production backing. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.2 from 533 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.6 from 485 votes, indicating a modest but broadly similar level of viewer appreciation across both platforms.
