What's left behind the scenes

  • The film was shot in Atlanta, Georgia, specifically at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
  • Jason Horgan was initially considered for the role of Ray Parvis, but the director felt he was too young, so Jason Beh took on the role, while Horgan was cast as Dr. Ken Brown.
  • Guillermo del Toro was originally intended to direct the film, but he preferred to work on "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army".
  • During the film's preparation, director Eric Valette deliberately avoided watching the original Japanese version and asked his actors to do the same.
  • The film is based on the novel of the same name by Japanese writer Yasushi Akimoto and is a remake of the Japanese film "Chakushin Ari" (2003).
  • According to screenwriter Andrew Klavan, while working on the script, he expected the film to be shot as a comedic satire of horror movies where characters die one by one. However, Andrew states that director Eric Valette and the young lead actors wanted to make a serious horror film. In this conflict of ideas, the producers sided with the director and the actors.
