John Eastland is a Vietnam veteran who takes the law into his own hands to fight crime in New York City. Using a flamethrower and a welding helmet, the vigilante targets a violent drug lord and his gang. The conflict escalates into a cycle of revenge after the criminals attack Eastland's associates, leading to a final confrontation between the two sides while the local police remain unable to control the street violence.
Directed by Mark Buntzman, who also co-wrote and produced the film with William Sachs, this action thriller was released in 1984. The movie stars Robert Ginty as the titular protagonist and Mario Van Peebles as the antagonist, X. The supporting cast includes Deborah Geffner, Frankie Faison, Scott Randolph, and Reggie Rock Bythewood, with a total of 40 credited performers.
