A View to a Kill

A microchip developed for the British government, capable of surviving the electromagnetic pulse from a nuclear blast, has turned up in Soviet hands. James Bond is sent to trace the leak. His investigation points toward Max Zorin, a wealthy industrialist with ties to the KGB and a plan that threatens Silicon Valley, which he intends to cripple so that he controls the microchip market.

Roger Moore plays Bond for the seventh time, with Tanya Roberts as Stacey Sutton, Christopher Walken as Zorin and Grace Jones as May Day. John Glen directed, following For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy in his run of Bond films, from a screenplay by Richard Maibaum and Michael G. Wilson; Albert R. Broccoli and Tom Pevsner produced. The film was released in May 1985 and runs 131 minutes.

Made for about 30 million dollars, it took roughly 152 million dollars worldwide, a strong commercial result. Audience response has been moderate: on IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from over two thousand votes, while on TMDB it also sits at 6.3 from a similar number. A critics' rating of 4.9 out of 10 from 62 reviews places it below the audience scores, though not by a wide margin.
