Towards the end of the film, Melanie stumbles upon a table in the apartment that wasn't in the script. However, the director decided not to cut this scene with Michelle Pfeiffer.
By the time filming began, George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer had known each other for many years – since the early 1980s, when Clooney courted Michelle's younger sister, also an actress, Didi Pfeiffer.
In the scene where Jack appears in Melanie’s apartment, actor George Clooney positions himself at such an angle to the camera that bruises on his face from a basketball game are not visible.
Filming took place from February 26 to May 18, 1996.
