Short description
John Rambo has settled in northern Thailand, living quietly near the Salween River, where he catches snakes and repairs boats for a living. The Vietnam veteran keeps his distance from the conflict just across the border in Myanmar, until a group of Christian aid workers asks him to ferry them upriver so they can bring medical supplies and food to refugees. He reluctantly agrees and delivers them to the border, but when the group fails to return and word reaches him that they have been taken captive by a Burmese infantry unit, he joins a team of mercenaries heading into the war zone to bring them out.
The film is the fourth in the Rambo series and a sequel to 1985's Rambo: First Blood Part II. Sylvester Stallone directs and stars as the title character, his seventh turn behind the camera following Rocky Balboa two years earlier. Julie Benz plays Sarah, with Matthew Marsden, Graham McTavish and Reynaldo Gallegos among the mercenaries. Art Monterastelli co-wrote the screenplay with Stallone, and the production involved companies in the United States, Germany and Thailand.
Made for about 50 million dollars, it earned roughly 113 million worldwide. On TMDB it holds a 6.7 rating from more than four thousand votes.

- This is the first film in the franchise without Richard Crenna. In previous movies, the actor played Colonel Samuel Trautman. He passed away in 2003. The role in the fourth installment was intended for James Caan, but Colonel Trautman was ultimately written out of the script.
