The Trip

Married couple Lisa and Lars have grown to resent each other, their careers having stalled and their life together having fallen far short of what they once expected. They travel to a remote cabin by a lake with the stated aim of repairing their relationship, though each of them secretly intends to kill the other. Before either can act, unexpected visitors arrive, forcing the pair to deal with a threat far greater than the plans they had made for one another.

Tommy Wirkola directed and co-wrote the film with Nick Ball and John Niven. It is the fifth feature he directed, following Dead Snow, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead and What Happened to Monday, and it came before Violent Night, Spermageddon, Violent Night 2 and Thrash. Noomi Rapace plays Lisa and Aksel Hennie plays Lars, with Atle Antonsen, Christian Rubeck, André Eriksen and Nils Ole Oftebro among the credited cast of twenty. It is a Norwegian and American production from XYZ Films and 74 Entertainment, running 113 minutes.

On IMDb it holds 6.9 out of 10 from around 30,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.7 out of 10 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' rating of 7 out of 10 from twelve reviews places it close to where audiences put it.
