Blood Red Sky

Blood Red Sky is a German-British action horror thriller about Nadja, a woman travelling on an overnight transatlantic flight from Germany to New York with her ten-year-old son, Elias. When a group of terrorists seizes control of the plane and threatens everyone aboard, Nadja is forced to act in order to protect her child. Doing so means confronting the dark secret she has been hiding and giving in to the monstrous side of herself she has long tried to suppress. The terrorists have no idea who they are dealing with.

The film was directed by Peter Thorwarth, who wrote the screenplay with Stefan Holtz. It was produced by Christian Becker and Benjamin Munz for Rat Pack Filmproduktion and Sirena Film. Peri Baumeister leads the cast as Nadja, with Carl Anton Koch as Elias, alongside Kais Setti, Alexander Scheer, Dominic Purcell and Graham McTavish among the twenty-four credited performers. It was made on a budget of about 15 million dollars. Chronologically, it is the second of the four films Thorwarth has directed, following Bang, Boom, Bang and preceding Blood & Gold and Das verrückte Labyrinth.

Reception was moderate. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.1 out of 10 from around 60,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.8 out of 10 from roughly 1,800 votes. A critics' rating of 6.5 out of 10 from 31 reviews places professional assessments close to the audience scores, suggesting a broadly comparable response from both groups.
