Siblings OJ and Emerald Haywood run a horse ranch in a remote part of inland California, training animals for film and television work. The business was left to them by their father, a respected horse trainer who died in a strange accident involving debris falling from the sky. With money running short and horses already sold off, OJ considers giving up the ranch, while a neighbouring western-themed attraction owned by former child star Ricky Park offers another way out. When the siblings notice something unusual in the clouds above their land, they try to capture it on camera, drawing in an electronics store employee and a filmmaker.

Nope is a horror and science fiction film written and directed by Jordan Peele, his third feature after Get Out and Us, and produced through his Monkeypaw Productions with Ian Cooper. Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer lead the cast as the Haywood siblings, with Brandon Perea, Michael Wincott, Steven Yeun and Wrenn Schmidt in supporting roles. It was shot in Canada, the United States and Japan, with Universal Pictures among the production companies.
