Elodie, a young noblewoman, agrees to marry Prince Henry, but the union is not what it appears. The royal family has chosen her as repayment for an old debt, and she is thrown into a cave inhabited by a fire-breathing dragon. To stay alive, she must rely on her wits and courage rather than rescue from those who sent her there.
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directed the film, his fourth feature after Intacto, 28 Weeks Later and Intruders. Dan Mazeau wrote the screenplay, and Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Castaldi produced. Millie Bobby Brown plays Elodie, with Nick Robinson as Prince Henry, Robin Wright as Queen Isabelle, Milo Twomey as King Roderick, Ray Winstone as Lord Bayford and Brooke Carter as Floria. The production, mounted across Spain and the United States, cost about 60 million dollars and runs 107 minutes.
On IMDb the film holds 6.1 out of 10 from roughly 118,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7 out of 10 from a much smaller group of about 2,900 voters. A critics' rating of 5.5 out of 10 from 127 reviews places it slightly below the IMDb audience figure and clearly under the TMDB score. The gap between the two audience samples is wide, and the larger, more established pool rates the film more modestly.
