Huesera: The Bone Woman

Valeria has wanted to become a mother for a long time, and when her pregnancy is finally confirmed she expects happiness to follow. Instead, something begins to go wrong with her body and mind: she loses weight, hears and feels her bones cracking, and is haunted by visions that follow her everywhere. Those close to her treat it as hormones or stress, but the presence that appears to her does not leave. Her pregnancy, her relationship and the life of her unborn child are all drawn into danger.

Michelle Garza Cervera directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Abia Castillo. It was the first film she directed, followed by The Hand That Rocks the Cradle in 2025. Natalia Solián plays Valeria, with Alfonso Dosal as Raúl, Mayra Batalla as Octavia, Mercedes Hernández as Isabel, Sonia Couoh as Vero and Aida López as Maricarmen among a credited cast of 27. A Mexican-Peruvian production from Disruptiva Films, Machete Producciones, Maligno Gorehouse and Terminal, it runs 97 minutes.

The film sits between drama, horror and mystery, and its reception splits along those lines. A critics' rating of 7.9/10 from 100 reviews is markedly higher than the audience scores of 6/10 from around 7,500 votes on IMDb and 5.9/10 from roughly 388 votes on TMDB, suggesting reviewers responded more strongly than general viewers did.
