Cop Secret

Cop Secret is an Icelandic action comedy about Bússi, a hard-charging Reykjavík detective who is assigned a new partner while a string of bank robberies rattles the city. The cases are strange ones: the banks are hit, yet little or nothing seems to have been taken. Bússi's superiors want the investigation closed quickly, and the strain of the job collides with feelings he has long refused to acknowledge, which surface as he grows closer to the man working the case beside him.

The film was directed by Hannes Þór Halldórsson, who wrote the screenplay with Sverrir Thor Sverrisson and Nína Pedersen, and it marked his move into feature fiction after his earlier documentary work. Auðunn Blöndal and Egill Einarsson lead the cast as Bússi and Hörður, with Steinunn Ólína Þorsteinsdóttir, Sverrir Thor Sverrisson, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson and Vivian Ólafsdóttir among the principal players.

Released in 2022, the film met a modest reception. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.9 from around 1,400 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 6 out of 10 from a much smaller pool of under a hundred votes, suggesting a limited international audience. A critics' rating of 6.6 from 20 reviews places it somewhat above the audience scores, indicating reviewers were more favourable than general viewers.
