The Intruder

A well-dressed stranger calling himself Adam Cramer arrives in a small Southern town just as court-ordered school integration is about to take effect. Presenting himself as a social reformer, he instead works to turn the white residents against the plan and against their Black neighbours. The resentment he encourages escalates beyond what he can direct, and the situation slips away from him.

Roger Corman directed and produced the film, working from a screenplay by Charles Beaumont. It was Corman's eighth film as director in a run of nineteen; it followed Tales of Terror and was followed by The Premature Burial. William Shatner plays Cramer, with Frank Maxwell as Tom McDaniel, Beverly Lunsford as Ella McDaniel, Robert Emhardt as Verne Shipman, Leo Gordon as Sam Griffin and Charles Barnes as Joey Greene. Corman produced it through Roger Corman Productions in the United States, and it runs 84 minutes.
