What's left behind the scenes
- Joaquin Phoenix wrapped needles around his hand with bandages, needles that pricked him every time he used that hand. To more accurately portray a person with injuries, he used paper clips that helped him limp realistically.
- At the beginning of the film, immediately after the logos of the film company and distributor, the logo of the fictional corporation Mona Wassermann was shown, as if emphasizing that this corporation controls everything.
- On April 1, 2023, director and screenwriter Ari Aster and A24 pulled off the following prank. Moviegoers in New York purchased tickets for the director's cut of the horror film "Midsommar," but instead were shown "Beau is Afraid."
