Ray Donovan: The Movie continues the story of the Donovan family, picking up after the events of the television series on which it is based. Mickey Donovan has gone on the run, and his son Ray, a fixer who handles problems for the wealthy and famous, sets out to track him down before Mickey can cause further bloodshed. The search draws the family back to Boston, where the events that shaped Ray come to light and each of the Donovans confronts the legacy of a violent upbringing. Their loyalty to one another is what keeps them going even as old conflicts resurface.
David Hollander directed and co-wrote the screenplay with star Liev Schreiber. It is the second feature Hollander directed, following Personal Effects in 2009. Schreiber leads a cast that includes Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Pooch Hall, Kerris Dorsey and Katherine Moennig, with 34 credited performers in all. The film runs 100 minutes and was released in January 2022.
Audience reception was moderate and consistent across platforms: it holds a rating of 6.8 on IMDb from around 10,000 votes and 6.8 on TMDB from roughly 238 votes. A critics' rating of 6.3 from 16 reviews sits slightly below those audience scores.
