Seaspiracy

Seaspiracy is a documentary about a filmmaker who set out to record the damage humans cause to life in the oceans. His investigation into fishing practices leads him to a wider picture of corruption and criminal activity operating on a global scale, extending far beyond what he expected to find. The film was shot in several countries, and it combines the director's own travels with interviews featuring marine scientists, conservationists and former fishing industry workers. Ali Tabrizi directed the film, which was produced by Kip Andersen through A.U.M. Films and Disrupt Studios. Tabrizi also appears on screen, alongside figures such as oceanographer Sylvia Earle, dolphin trainer turned activist Richard O'Barry, former navy diver Paul de Gelder, Lucy Tabrizi and biologist Jonathan Balcombe.

The film runs 89 minutes and sits in the crime and documentary genres. It was released on 24 March 2021, following earlier documentary work by the same production team on environmental subjects. Its reception has been strong among general viewers: on IMDb it holds 8.1 out of 10 from around 35,000 votes, and on TMDB it has 7.8 out of 10 from roughly 475 votes. The gap in vote numbers between the two reflects how much more widely it was rated on the former, while the fairly close scores suggest a broadly consistent response across both audiences.
