The Girl from the Other Side

In a world split between a human inner land and an outer land inhabited by cursed creatures, a monster finds a young girl named Shiva among a pile of corpses. Despite the inherent danger and the strict boundaries separating their kinds, the two form a close bond, with Shiva referring to her protector as Teacher. As Shiva grows more curious about her surroundings and seeks her grandmother, she begins to uncover the secrets behind her presence in the forbidden realm.

This Japanese animated fantasy drama was produced by WIT STUDIO, FlyingDog, Twin Engine, and MAG Garden. It was directed and written by Yutaro Kubo and Satomi Maiya. The voice cast features Jun Fukuyama as Teacher and Rie Takahashi as Shiva, alongside Hiroki Goto, Tadashi Miyazawa, Kouichi Sakaguchi, and Daiki Kobayashi. The film is an adaptation of a manga by Nagabe and was funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign that surpassed 20 million yenes.
