Foreign Language

Foreign Language is a drama about a shy French teenager named Fanny who travels to Leipzig, Germany, for a language exchange. There she meets her pen pal, Lena, a peer interested in political activism. In an effort to impress Lena and gain her approval, Fanny creates a false identity for herself, eventually becoming trapped by her own fabrications.

The film was written and directed by Claire Burger. It stars Lilith Grasmug as Fanny and Josefa Heinsius as Léna, with a supporting cast that includes Nina Hoss, Chiara Mastroianni, Jalal Altawil, and Yuri Völsch.
