Mike and Kate are a young couple with a chance at a large cash prize. To claim it, they must live together inside a bare, featureless room for fifty days, with an early threshold that already secures them the money. What looks like an easy endurance test becomes a strain on their relationship and on each of them, as the isolation of the room and the pressure of the situation bring tensions and private troubles to the surface.
The Immaculate Room is a 2022 American drama and thriller directed and written by Mukunda Michael Dewil, arriving in his filmography after Vehicle 19 and Collide and before Prey and The Patient. Kate Bosworth plays Kate and Emile Hirsch plays Michael, with Ashley Greene, M. Emmet Walsh, Alex Sgambati and Tiffany Smith in supporting roles. Joel David Moore, Doug Murray and Daniel Baur produced.
The film runs 92 minutes and was released in August 2022. Reception was modest across the board: on IMDb it holds a rating of 5.1 from roughly 7,300 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.2 from about 152 votes. A critics' rating of 5.2 from 26 reviews places professional assessment very close to the audience response, with neither group regarding the film as a standout.
