Watcher

Watcher follows Julia, an American actress who moves to Bucharest with her husband, Francis, after his job takes them there. Left on her own in a city where she knows no one and does not speak the language, she grows uneasy in her new surroundings. She becomes convinced that a man in a building across the street is watching her, though her husband and his friends dismiss her fears. Meanwhile, a serial killer is preying on women in the city, and Julia's sense of being observed deepens into something more threatening.

The film is the second feature directed by Chloe Okuno, following her segment in the 2021 anthology V/H/S/94, and she also wrote the screenplay. Maika Monroe plays Julia, with Karl Glusman as Francis and Burn Gorman as the man she believes is watching her. The supporting cast includes Mãdãlina Anea, Daniel Nuta and Gabriela Butuc.

Made for a modest 5 million dollars, the film returned roughly 4 million at the worldwide box office. On IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from around 61,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.5 from about 1,200 votes. A critics' rating of 7 out of 10 from 154 reviews places it somewhat above the audience scores.
