Infinite Storm

Pam Bales sets out alone on a winter ascent of Mount Washington in New Hampshire, hoping the climb will give her space to work through a difficult period in her life. When the weather turns, she abandons her attempt and heads back down, only to come across signs that someone else is on the mountain. She finds a stranger, an inexperienced and barely responsive man, and refuses to leave him behind as the storm closes in. The two then have to work their way off the mountain before nightfall, turning a personal trek into a struggle to stay alive in severe conditions. The film is based on a true incident.

Infinite Storm was released in 2022 and runs 97 minutes. It was directed by Małgorzata Szumowska, her fourth feature following Elles, The Other Lamb and Never Gonna Snow Again, and it was written by Joshua Rollins. Naomi Watts plays Pam Bales and also produced alongside Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler; Billy Howle appears as John, with Denis O'Hare, Parker Sawyers and Eliot Sumner in supporting roles. The production was spread across Australia, the United Kingdom, Poland and the United States.

The film had a budget of 5 million USD and took about 2 million USD worldwide, a modest return. Audiences are mixed: it holds a 5.3/10 on IMDb from 12,890 votes and a 5.7/10 on TMDB from 370 votes. A film critics' rating of 5.9/10 from 61 reviews places it slightly above both audience scores.
