The festival in the city is not a product of the filmmakers' imagination. Known as the Fire Festival, this event takes place every year on December 31st in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, one of the 32 regions of Scotland.
During filming in the mountains, a boulder dislodged from above fell near the film crew. Fortunately, no one was injured.
While working on the film, director Julian Gilbey and his brother Will Gilbey, with whom he co-wrote the screenplay, gained experience in rock climbing themselves.
Initially, German actress Franka Potente was cast in the role of Allison, but she was eventually replaced by Melissa George.
When scouting locations in the mountains, brothers Julian and Will Gilbey attached video cameras to their heads. These shots are shown on screen during the end credits, as if filmed by the climbing characters in the film.
