A Lonely Place to Die

A group of five climbers heads into the Scottish Highlands, expecting a remote ascent far from anyone else. Instead they come across a young girl trapped in a buried chamber in the wild terrain. They free her, but she cannot explain how she got there, and their presence has not gone unnoticed. The kidnappers are still nearby, watching, and the climbers must try to get the child to safety while being hunted through country with no easy escape routes.

Julian Gilbey directed and co-wrote the film with Will Gilbey, working from a story by the Gilbey brothers. It was Gilbey's second feature, following Rise of the Footsoldier in 2007 and preceding Plastic in 2014 and Summit Fever in 2022. Melissa George plays Alison, with Ed Speleers as Ed, Eamonn Walker as Andy, Alec Newman as Rob, Karel Roden as Darko and Kate Magowan as Jenny. Produced by Michael Loveday for a UK production, it runs 99 minutes.

A critics' score of 5.8 from 31 reviews places it close to the audience scores, suggesting broad agreement about the film rather than a sharp divide.
