My Best Friend's Exorcism

In 1988, Abby and Gretchen have been close friends since childhood. After an evening that goes badly wrong, Gretchen begins behaving strangely, growing moody and irritable, and odd incidents seem to follow her. While others treat the change as ordinary teenage behaviour, Abby becomes convinced something supernatural is at work and that her friend may be possessed. With help from an unlikely group of allies, she sets out to save Gretchen, though it is unclear whether their friendship can survive what has taken hold of her.

The film is a comedy-horror directed by Damon Thomas from a screenplay by Jenna Lamia, adapted from Grady Hendrix's novel of the same name. It stars Elsie Fisher as Abby and Amiah Miller as Gretchen, with supporting roles filled by Rachel Ogechi Kanu, Cathy Ang, Clayton Royal Johnson and Christopher Lowell. It runs 96 minutes and was produced by Endeavor Content, the Gotham Group and Quirk Productions across Canada and the United States.

Released in late September 2022, the film drew a mixed response. Its critics' rating sits at 5.6 out of 10 from 50 reviews, closely matched by audiences, who rate it 5.8 out of 10 on TMDB and 5.3 out of 10 on IMDb from a substantially larger body of votes. The closeness of those figures suggests critics and viewers found similar, moderate merits in it.
