Alex Lewis is a veteran contract killer who declines to carry out a job for a powerful criminal organization. That refusal turns him into a target, with both the syndicate and the FBI closing in. Complicating matters is his deteriorating memory, which leaves him unsure of his own actions and of whom he can trust. The FBI agent Vincent Serra, meanwhile, is running an operation of his own that puts him on Alex's trail.
Liam Neeson plays Alex, with Guy Pearce as Serra, Monica Bellucci as the crime boss Davana Sealman, and Harold Torres, Taj Atwal and Ray Fearon in supporting roles. Martin Campbell directed from a screenplay by Dario Scardapane; Cathy Schulman, Arthur M. Sarkissian and Moshe Diamant produced. The film runs 114 minutes and is an American production from STX Films, Black Bear Pictures, Welle Entertainment and Saville Productions.
Released in April 2022, Memory was the fifteenth of eighteen films Campbell has directed, arriving between The Protégé and Dirty Angels. Made for a budget of about 30 million dollars, it took in roughly 14 million worldwide, a return well below its cost. Ratings are modest: on IMDb it holds 5.7 from more than thirty-three thousand votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.7 from a much smaller base of about seventeen hundred. A critics' rating of 4.8 from roughly a hundred reviews places it below even the IMDb audience figure.
