Ritual

Ritual is a Belgian crime thriller based on the novel by Mo Hayder. The story follows Kiki Schelfthaut, a police diver in Brussels who discovers a severed hand in a canal. As she investigates the find alongside Inspector Nick Cafmeyer, the pair discovers that the injuries were inflicted while the victim was alive. While the inspector suspects the involvement of drug traffickers, Kiki believes the crime is part of a ritual. The investigation eventually links these violent acts to the Belgian state and Kiki's own family, forcing her to confront personal and national guilt from the past.

The film was directed by Hans Herbots, following his previous work on Bo and The Treatment. The screenplay was written by Carl Joos and produced by Peter Bouckaert. The lead roles are played by Marie Vinck as Kiki Schelfthaut and Geert Van Rampelberg as Nick Cafmeyer, with a credited cast of 31 actors including Ériq Ebouaney and Lukas Bulteel.
