What's left behind the scenes
- At one point, Ari Aster was the director of the film, and Adam Sandler was set to play the lead role. After Kristoffer Borgli’s “Sick of Myself” (2022) received critical and audience acclaim, the film’s production, based on his own screenplay, passed to him, and Borgli replaced Sandler with Nicolas Cage.
- As in almost all of his projects, Nicolas Cage came up with his own hairstyle.
- Director and screenwriter Kristoffer Borgli conceived the screenplay after studying the works of Carl Jung. He found Jung's ideas aesthetically interesting, but useless and meaningless as scientific theories.
- Adam Sandler was initially cast in the lead role. After Christopher Borgli's film "Self Disgust" won critical acclaim, the director's chair for the film based on his own screenplay passed to him, and Borgli replaced Sandler with Nicolas Cage.
- Director and screenwriter Christopher Borgli came up with the film's script after studying the works of Carl Jung.
