The Judgement

Based on a true story, this drama thriller focuses on the Deventer murder case in the Netherlands. When Jacqueline Wittenberg was killed in 1999, evidence pointed toward her tax consultant, Ernest Louwes. However, television journalist Bas Haan believes the situation is more complex than the official narrative suggests. He chooses to investigate the case and challenge the conclusions of the police, the courts, and the media to uncover the truth behind the crime.

The film was directed by Sander Burger, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Bert Bouma. In the chronological order of Burger's work, this movie follows Olivier etc. and precedes Totem and Youri. The cast is led by Fedja van Huêt, with supporting roles played by Yorick van Wageningen, Lies Visschedijk, Mark Kraan, George Tobal, and Porgy Franssen. The production was handled by BIND and KRO-NCRV.
