Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Dr. Henry Jekyll is a respected physician who believes that every person carries a hidden, darker self. He devises a scientific experiment meant to bring that concealed side into the open, but the process unleashes a murderer from within him, a persona that comes to be known as Mr. Hyde. The struggle between the two sides of one man drives the story, which is drawn from Robert Louis Stevenson's novella.

Herbert Brenon directed and wrote the screenplay, and Carl Laemmle produced. The film was made by Universal Pictures Corporation together with the Independent Moving Pictures Co. of America. King Baggot takes the dual title role, with Jane Gail as Alice, Matt Snyder as Alice's Father, Howard Crampton as Dr. Lanyon and William Sorelle as Utterson, the attorney. At 26 minutes, it is a short silent drama that blends horror and science fiction.
