A deep-sea submarine crew on a risky expedition passes through a strange opening on the ocean floor and finds a submerged world that was long hidden. There they encounter the remains of an ancient civilisation and wake something that had lain dormant for ages. The discovery turns their mission into a fight for survival in the dark below the sea.
This British-American horror, science fiction and thriller runs 80 minutes. Charlie Steeds directed and wrote the screenplay; Jerome Reygner-Kalfon and Sebastien Semon produced it, and it comes from Dark Temple Motion Pictures and Ace Entertainment Films. Derek Nelson plays Jim Peters, with Makenna Guyler as Christine Harris, Rory Wilton as Hank O'Connell, Kane Surry as Joe Meeker, David Lenik as Cameron and Rowena Bentley as Julia Goldstein.
Gods of the Deep was released in December 2023 and took its place among Steeds's other 2023 directing work, between The Haunting of the Tower of London and He Sees You When You're Sleeping. Audience scores are low: on IMDb it holds 3.2 out of 10 from around 1,300 votes, and on TMDB it has 4.7 out of 10 from 79 votes. The larger IMDb sample and the higher TMDB figure point to a small, divided audience for a low-budget creature feature.
