Ghosted
Short description
Ghosted follows Cole Turner, a farmer who falls for the mysterious Sadie Rhodes and then learns she is a secret agent. Before the two can sort out a second date, they are pulled into an international chase that puts the world at stake.
Dexter Fletcher directed the film, the fifth in the run of features he has made since Wild Bill in 2011, following Sunshine on Leith, Eddie the Eagle and Rocketman. Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Chris McKenna wrote the screenplay, and Reese produced alongside Chris Evans and Dana Goldberg for Skydance. Chris Evans plays Cole and Ana de Armas plays Sadie, with Adrien Brody, Mike Moh, Amy Sedaris and Tate Donovan in supporting roles. The budget was 40 million dollars.
Critics gave the film a rating of 4.2 out of 10 across 118 reviews, while audiences were warmer: on IMDb it holds 5.8 out of 10 from around 80,000 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 6.9 out of 10 from roughly 2,275 votes. The gap between the critical and audience scores is wide, with viewers rating it considerably higher than reviewers did.
What's left behind the scenes
- According to director Dexter Fletcher, Scarlett Johansson was originally chosen for the role of Sadie, but she was unable to participate in filming due to commitments to other projects. It was then that he suggested Ana de Armas for the role, and Chris Evans (who played Cole, i.e. was supposed to be de Armas's co-star) immediately called the actress with an offer to work with Fletcher.
- Three buses were used in the corresponding scenes: one for filming inside, the second for exterior shots, and the third for destruction.
