Cuckoo

Gretchen, seventeen, leaves her home in the United States against her wishes to live with her father, who has settled with his new wife and their young daughter at a resort in the German Alps. The owner of the property, Herr König, takes an unexplained interest in Gretchen's half-sister Alma, who does not speak. Soon after her arrival, Gretchen is troubled by odd noises and by visions of a woman following her, and the calm of the resort gives way to something more disturbing.

Cuckoo was directed and written by Tilman Singer, following his earlier feature Luz, and stars Hunter Schafer as Gretchen and Dan Stevens as Herr König, with Marton Csokas, Jessica Henwick, Jan Bluthardt and Mila Lieu among the cast. The film runs 103 minutes.

Produced through a German-American partnership, it was made for about 7 million dollars. On IMDb it holds 5.7 out of 10 across roughly 33,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.7 out of 10 from about 580 votes, while a critics' rating stands at 6.7 out of 10 from around 200 reviews, so reviewers responded more favorably than the wider audience did.
