The Extraordinary Voyage

This documentary examines the life of early cinema pioneer Georges Méliès. It focuses on the unexpected discovery of a color version of his 1902 film A Trip to the Moon in Spain and the subsequent work by cinema enthusiasts to restore the footage. The production was a French collaboration between France Télévisions, Steamboat Films, and Lobster Films. It was directed by Serge Bromberg and Eric Lange, following Bromberg's earlier project, Discovering Cinema: Movies Dream in Color. Bromberg also served as the producer, writer, and narrator. The cast features several filmmakers appearing as themselves, including Costa-Gavras, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Michel Gondry, and Michel Hazanavicius, along with AFF member Nicolas Ricordel.
