What's left behind the scenes

  • Filming took place in London, from January to March 2007.
  • According to director Roger Donaldson, the most difficult scene to shoot was the one in the brothel, where, according to the script, the women were supposed to be wearing only garters. It turned out that the women had shaved their pubic areas, which was unsuitable considering the story takes place in 1971. They had to create special pubic hairpieces from artificial hair, but keeping them in place proved difficult, and they kept falling off.
  • The film is based on real events from the life of Margaret (1930-2002), a British princess, Countess of Snowdon – the story of her romantic adventures with Jamaicans in the 1970s and the story with the photographs hidden in a bank vault.
