Alice, a private investigator, has herself admitted to a psychiatric hospital by pretending to be mentally ill. She is there to look into the death of a patient, which happened under circumstances that were never properly explained. Once inside, the line between her cover story and her real situation becomes harder to keep clear.
The film is a Spanish production directed by Oriol Paulo, his fourth feature after The Body, The Invisible Guest and Mirage. He wrote the screenplay with Guillém Clua. Bárbara Lennie plays Alice, with Eduard Fernández as Samuel Alvar, and Loreto Mauleón, Javier Beltrán, Pablo Derqui and Federico Aguado in supporting roles. It runs 155 minutes and belongs to the drama, mystery and thriller genres.
Reception has been solid rather than enthusiastic. On IMDb it holds 7.1/10 from over twenty thousand votes, and on TMDB 7.3/10, though from a much smaller base of 866. The critics' rating stands at 6.3/10 from thirteen reviews, lower than both audience scores, suggesting viewers responded more warmly to the film than reviewers did.
