There's Something Wrong with the Children

Margaret and Ben join their old friends Ellie and Thomas and the couple's two young children for a weekend away in a secluded setting. The trip turns unsettling when the children wander into the woods and stay out through the night, then come back the next morning apparently unharmed. Ben alone notices that their behaviour has changed in ways he cannot explain, and he comes to believe something supernatural is at work. The screenplay is by T.J. Cimfel and David White, and the film was produced by Paige Pemberton and Paul B. Uddo for Blumhouse Productions, Blumhouse Television and Epix.

Roxanne Benjamin directs, her fourth feature after Southbound, XX and Final Stop. The cast places Zach Gilford as Ben, Alisha Wainwright as Margaret, Amanda Crew as Ellie and Carlos Santos as Thomas, with Briella Guiza and David Mattle as the children Lucy and Spencer.

The film runs 92 minutes and was released in January 2023. It is rated 5 out of 10 on IMDb from about 8,200 votes and 5.7 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 252 votes, while a critics' rating stands at 5.8 out of 10 from 34 reviews, a narrower and slightly higher figure than the audience scores.
