George Webber is a successful Hollywood songwriter who has just turned forty-two and finds himself unsettled by the idea of growing older. Although he already has a comfortable life and a devoted girlfriend, Samantha Taylor, he becomes fixated on a young woman he spots in bridal attire on the street. Learning that she has just married, he sets out to find where she and her new husband are spending their honeymoon. The comedy follows his pursuit of Jenny Hanley and the strain it puts on his relationship with Samantha.

Blake Edwards directed and wrote the screenplay, and produced the film with Tony Adams. It was the fifteenth of the twenty-seven features Edwards directed in chronological order, coming after Revenge of the Pink Panther in 1978 and before S.O.B. in 1981. Dudley Moore plays George, Julie Andrews plays Samantha, and Bo Derek plays Jenny, with Robert Webber, Dee Wallace and Sam J. Jones also appearing among a credited cast of seventy and a crew of forty.

Released on October 5, 1979, the film runs 122 minutes and is a comedy romance made in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures and Orion Pictures.
