Sharad of Atlantis

A naval academy graduate and an ambitious reporter accompany a professor and his stowaway son on a mission to find Atlantis. Traveling in a rocket submarine, the group seeks the cause of recent earthquakes. Upon discovering the lost city, they are caught in a conflict between peaceful inhabitants and a militaristic faction. The protagonists must fight for survival and escape a tower raised to the surface, which the aggressors intend to use to rule or destroy the world.

This 1936 action and science fiction film was produced by Republic Pictures. It was co-directed by B. Reeves Eason, following his work on Mystery Mountain and Hollywood Mystery, and Joseph Kane, who later directed Southward Ho!, Idaho, and The Maverick Queen. The cast features Ray Corrigan, Lois Wilde, Monte Blue, William Farnum, Boothe Howard, and Raymond Hatton. The screenplay was written by Maurice Geraghty, Oliver Drake, and John Rathmell, with Nat Levine serving as producer.
