Mick Dundee drives a Subaru Outback, the same model that Paul Hogan actively promoted and advertised in the early 2000s.
Well-known producer, pianist, and vocalist Anthony Begonia makes a cameo appearance in the beach scene as one of the angry volleyball players in the background, but was never credited in the film's titles.
Young Australian Serge Cockburn landed a role in the film after his parents read in the newspaper that a local production company was looking for a boy his age to play the son of Mick Dundee. His parents filmed a short video on a home camcorder of him talking to his grandfather about one of his pets, a lizard named Huffy, and sent it to the producers. According to director Simon Wincer, casting director Maura Fay was simply stunned by his acting talent.
Filming took place from August 10 to November 2000 in California, Melbourne, Australia, and the state of Queensland.
