In a small Inuit settlement in the Arctic, a group of teenage girls — Maika and her friends among them — find their everyday boredom interrupted when something strange arrives in their remote corner of the world. What begins as an ordinary outing near their hunting grounds turns into an encounter with a creature that does not belong there, and the girls come to realize that their community is facing an alien invasion. With homemade weapons, horror-movie know-how and little outside help, they set out to defend their home, while the usual concerns of teenage life, including a party they are determined not to miss, continue alongside the danger.

Slash/Back is a 2022 Canadian-American action, horror, science fiction and thriller film, running 87 minutes. It was directed by Nyla Innuksuk, who wrote the screenplay with Ryan Cavan; Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, Ethan Lazar and Hussain Amarshi produced it. Tasiana Shirley plays Maika, with Alexis Wolfe, Alexis Vincent-Wolfe, Nalajoss Ellsworth, Chelsea Prusky and Frankie Vincent-Wolfe in supporting roles, among a credited cast of 24.

The film was Innuksuk's first feature as director. Reception was mixed to positive: it holds a critics' rating of 6.9/10 from 51 reviews, compared with 5.7/10 on IMDb from around 2,300 votes and 6.4/10 on TMDB from 124 votes, suggesting critics responded more warmly than general audiences did.
