Around a dozen live snakes, two mechanical snakes weighing almost a ton, and, of course, an incalculable number of virtual snakes were used in the filming.
Jennifer Lopez’s character was originally named Terry Porter.
Jean Reno was considered for the role of Paul Sarone.
Gillian Anderson and Julianna Margulies declined the role of Terry Flores.
During the filming of one of the scenes inside the animatronic anaconda, the circuits short-circuited, and it went completely out of control. Some footage of the anaconda in this state made it into the film.
In reality, anacondas have round pupils. In this film, they were made slightly slanted to give the creature a more menacing appearance.
