Anaconda

A documentary crew travels deep into the Amazon to find a people known as the Shirishama, filming from a boat on the river. Led by director Terri Flores and anthropologist Steven Cale, the group includes cameraman Danny Rich, sound technician Gary Dixon, production member Denise and presenter Warren Westridge. On the way they take aboard Paul Serone, a stranded hunter who claims knowledge of the region and talks his way into guiding them. His real purpose is to find a giant anaconda, and he gradually seizes control of the expedition, steering everyone toward the snake.

Luis Llosa directed the film, his third feature after Sniper and The Specialist. Jim Cash, Jack Epps Jr. and Hans Bauer wrote the screenplay. Jennifer Lopez stars as Terri, with Ice Cube as Danny, Jon Voight as Serone, Eric Stoltz as Cale, Jonathan Hyde as Warren and Owen Wilson as Gary. Shot in Brazil and Peru and produced in part by Columbia Pictures, the film cost about 45 million dollars and took roughly 137 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 4.9 out of 10 from around 124,000 votes, on TMDB 5.3 from some 2,900, while a critics' rating stands at 4.9 from 58 reviews, placing professional and audience responses at a similar level.
