Paradise Highway

Paradise Highway is a crime drama about Sally, a truck driver who has been coerced into running illicit loads for a smuggling operation in order to protect her brother Dennis from a violent prison gang. While FBI agents close in on her, the discovery of what her final shipment actually contains forces her to weigh the obligation that put her on the road against the life now in her care.

Anna Gutto wrote and directed the film, her first feature as director, working with producers Mike Leahy, Claudia Bluemhuber and Georgia Bayliff. Juliette Binoche leads the cast as Sally, with Frank Grillo as Dennis and Morgan Freeman as the FBI agent Gerick. Hala Finley plays Leila, Cameron Monaghan appears as Special Agent Finley Sterling and Veronica Ferres as Rose. The production is a German, American and Swiss co-production involving Grindstone Entertainment Group, ZDF and Silver Reel, and runs 115 minutes.

Released in July 2022, the film drew a modest response. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.7 from roughly 7,900 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 5.9 from just over two hundred votes. Those figures point to a small audience and a mixed reception, with viewers landing slightly below the middle of the scale rather than rallying behind it.
